Jackson County Press Release: Bomb Threat At Wal-Mart

On April 14, 2009 at approximately 2:11pm the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Received a 911 call stating that there was a bomb located inside of Wal-Mart, and that we needed to get everyone out. Units responded to the store located at 2255 Hwy 71 south in Marianna, and began an evacuation of the building. Jackson County Fire and Rescue units, Marianna Fire and Rescue, and the Bay County Sheriff’s Office bomb team with a K-9 assisted Jackson County Sheriff’s Office units. There was no bomb or devices located at or inside of the building and the employees and patrons were allowed back in the store after the search was concluded. Investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department Of Law Enforcement are handling this case. Persons of interest in this case have been developed and more evidence is being gathered.
