May 3-9 is National Teacher Appreciation Week in Jackson County

To All of Our Hard Working Teachers---"We appreciate all you do in helping parents shape our children into productive citizens".

Lee Miller, Superintendent of Jackson County Schools, signed a proclamation stating that Jackson County Schools proclaim Tuesday, May 5, 2009, as National Teacher Day. Miller urges all citizens to observe this day by taking time to recognize and acknowledge the impact of teachers on our lives. Miller says, "Teachers fill many roles. They are listeners, explorers, role models, motivators, and mentors; and they continue to influence us long after our school days are only memories."
Many area teachers are being recognized throughout this week with special luncheons and gifts from their school’s PTO and business partners. Sarah Odom of Graceville Elementary stated, "We all know that teachers spend many extra hours each week to provide above and beyond for our students. We love and appreciate our teachers very much."
