“Pennies For Pencils” County Wide Fund Raising Will Occur During August

Drive will provide school supplies for needy grade school students in Jackson County
By Sid Riley

During August the Jackson County Times, local community spirited businesses, and concerned citizens of Jackson County will combine their efforts to help needy parents provide school supplies for their children when the new school year begins. During this period there will be collection canisters located near cash register check-out areas at approximately 100 retail businesses throughout the county. Please give to help local children in your area.

This will be a community based project. The funds raised in each community will be used to help grade school students at the grade school which serves the children of that community. The money raised in Cottondale will go to Cottondale Elementary students, the funds generated in Graceville will go to Graceville Elementary students, and thus throughout the county so when you give, you are directly helping your community.

So watch for the “Pennies for Pencils” collection canisters with the little boy on the lid, and please donate your pocket change for this cause. If you are a local business, please participate in this community based effort. In these difficult economic times there are many children who will need your help in order to have what they need at school.
