Name of Marianna Police Officer Who Shot and Killed Suspect is Released

Marianna Chief of Police Hayes Baggett released this addendum to the press release given by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement regarding the Officer involved shooting that occurred within the city limits of Marianna on Friday, September 04, 2009. The Officer involved was K-9 Officer Bliss Moreau. Officer Moreau is currently on paid administrative leave and once he is medically cleared he will return to duty.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting the investigation into the Officer-involved shooting. After a short chase and alleged attempt to ram the police cruiser, Officer Moreau fired his weapon into the vehicle fatally striking the driver, Marianna resident Mark Daniels. Daniels was unarmed. The results of the investigation will be submitted to the 14th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office for review.
