D.M and Ruby Lassiter Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary

D.M. and Ruby Lassiter quietly celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with their children, February 27th, 2010 at the Boar’s Head Restaurant in Panama City, Florida. D.M. was born December 17th, 1928 in Eastman, GA. He enlisted in the Army in May of 1946 as a military policeman. He was stationed in Nagoyla, Japan for 2 years.

After departure from the Army, he returned to Georgia where he worked for his father in the Turpentine Business. He began his career with International Paper Company located in Homerville, GA. in 1954. He met Ruby Ledden early in 1959, and they were married on February 28, 1960. He was transferred to Florida in October of 1960 with the International Paper Company. He retired with Smurfit Stone in April 1994 after 40 years of employment. D.M. has 1 brother, and 1 sister.

Ruby was born May 24th, 1937 in Cuthburt, GA. She attended Bessie Tift College in Forsythe, GA., and then received her AA Degree in Elementary Education from Andrew College in Cuthburt, GA. After moving to Florida she began working with Ponce De Leon High School in 1968. She was the secretary at the school for 12 years. She then went to work for New Ponce Shirt Company in Ponce De Leon. After 18 years of employment with them, she retired in November 1998. Ruby has 2 sisters, and 5 brothers.

D.M. and Ruby have 2 daughters. Deana lives in Marianna, Florida and is married to John Pforte. They have 2 boys, Dylan (age 11), and Dustin (age 9). Dawn Morgan lives in Defuniak Springs, Florida and has one son, Heath Morgan. Heath is 19 years old and is stationed in Alameda, CA. with the U.S. Coast Guard.

D.M. and Ruby have been residing in Ponce De Leon, Florida for the past 44 years, and they are members of Northside Baptist Church there.
