Marianna Pilot Club Raffle Prize To Be Worth Over $3,000

Funds to be used to purchase special “Handicapped Swing” for Citizens Lodge Park

By Bo McMullian

You could win a three-night stay at a resort in Destin and a total prize package worth $3,000 by participating in the Marianna Pilot Club’s spring fundraiser this month. Tickets are only $5 each or five for $20. The drawing is to be held on Wednesday, May 5.

The money raised will be used to pay for the installation of a $5,000 swing set for the handicapped at Citizens Lodge Park. This swing set even has a swing for a person in a wheelchair.

“The Pilot Club is an international service organization with the primary focus of helping people with brain-related disorders or injuries,” local vice-president Amber Baggett told the Times on Monday. “The club is in its 65th year in Marianna.” The Marianna Kiwanis Club is also helping with this event.

“Local merchants have been awesome with donations,” Baggett said. “We’ll soon have a large banner printed listing all the merchants. We’ll have a booth at the Pork and Paint Festival. Tickets are available from any Pilot Club members and are also on sale at Hair by Heart beauty salon on Fifth Avenue, Altha Farmers Coop on Penn Avenue or the Century 21 real estate office on U.S. 90.

The drawing will be held on May 5, the Wednesday before Mothers’ Day, on radio station WJAQ.

The Grand Prize Package, worth $3,239, includes a three-night stay at Club Destin on Sept. 5,6, and 7, 2010. Some 26 other items are included in that package from area merchants including Watsons Jewelers, Winn-Dixie and the Cornerstone Restaurant.

An “Outdoor/Recreation Package” is valued at $1,767 and includes a quail hunting trip at Hatcher Farms. Other items include FSU and UF football tickets, a fish cooker and hunting bows.

A “Pamper Me Package” is valued at $1,775 and includes about 30 items from merchants including Dino’s Café, the Oaks restaurant, the Fitness Center and a $100 gift certificate at Wal-Mart from Ducky Johnson House Movers.
