Blue Springs Now Open 7 Days Per Week

At Tuesday’s regular meeting of the County Commission, at the request of Parks and Recreation Director, Chuck Hatcher, the Board approved opening the popular Blue Springs Park every day of the week. Up until this vote, the park has been closed on Mondays.

Hatcher informed the board that attendance at the park for this year is at a record setting pace, and many users are requesting the additional day of fun at the park. Hatcher stated that the additional gate and concession revenues from the extra day will more than offset the added costs.

Hatcher stated that the new schedule would begin immediately.

In another matter, the Commissioners approved an ordinance allowing fishing in the lake at Citizens Lodge Park for youths 16 years of age or younger. Bass must be released, but there is a bag limit of six catfish, and panfish is ten per person. Fishing is allowed from sunrise to sunset, and only rod and reel, rod only, or pole fishing is permitted.
