Meet the Candidate: Florida House of Representative District 7: David Pleat, Democrat

David Pleat, a resident of Walton County, is the first Democrat to run for District 7 House of Representatives in 14 years. David is a resident of Sandestin where he resides with his wife and law partner, Amy Perry, and their three year old daughter (Nola). David is also very proud of his four older children (Candace, Nicholas, Austin & Cassandra), all of whom, he says are thankfully, are on their own and out making their mark in the world. David has practiced law for 25 years and is proud of the his oft maligned profession. David is also an experienced business man. He is the senior partner in the Destin law firm of Pleat and Perry, PA; co-owner of Dune Title Company; Member of the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce where he served as Chairman of the Board in 2007; Member of the Walton County Area Chamber of Commerce; Kiwanis Destin member; Vice Chairman of the First District Attorney Grievance Committee for the Florida Bar; Member of the Destin Area Sports Commission; past Chairman of the Destin Area Community and Economic Development Committee; Past President for Citizens for Good Leadership; Co-Founder of the Wave Futebol Club for youth soccer; has served as a Walton County Area Chamber of Commerce BUILD mentor and volunteer and contributor to many area organizations and charitable causes.

He is running to be your District 7 Representative because he cares deeply about this District; creating jobs and improving the economy, caring for our unique environment and he strongly opposes near shore oil drilling initiatives in State waters. He is a fiscal conservative who believes his legal, business, leadership and life experiences provide him with a complete skill set to guide us through these challenging times.

District 7 needs strong leadership in Tallahassee to ensure the growth and prosperity of our region. David looks at the District and sees all that we have in common and not that which could divide us. As the Representative for District 7, he pledges to work hard to:
