The Election Story Local and State

At the crowded Supervisor of Elections Office the scene was familiar for election nights. Behind the glassed panel the election officials were busy tabulating results while outside the waiting crowd was filled with party officials, some Democrats and some Republicans. Supporters of the only local candidates, Crutchfield and Pate milled around their candidate, eagerly waiting for progress reports.

Against the back walls the radio commentators were busy gathering information and occasionally speaking into a live mike to broadcast what was known at the moment to their waiting Jackson county audience.
