Malone and Bascom Volunteer Fire Units To Merge

For many years Bascom has had a proud volunteer fire department comprised of civic minded local citizens who donated their personal time and engaged in the necessary training and on-call attention to providing fire safety coverage to the community. However, as time passed the state bureaucracy has increased the complexity and scope of requirements for certification as a volunteer fire department. The proud unit in Bascom has thus become unable to meet all of these requirements, and can no longer stand alone as a volunteer fire department.
