Blondie’s Burns

Popular Grand Ridge Convenience Store & Restaurant Damaged by Fire
By Sid Riley

Shortly after midnight on Wednesday night, a fire erupted in the kitchen area of Blondie’s Convenience Store and Deli in Grand Ridge. The store is the most active retail business in Grand Ridge.
The store was previously owned by the family of Ducky Johnson, a well known community leader in Grand Ridge, but was sold during 2008 to the current owner. The building was not totally destroyed, but did suffer considerable smoke damage. The gasoline pumps were not involved in the fire, which was centered in the kitchen area of the deli.

Fire units from Grand Ridge, Sneads, and the Jackson County Fire and Rescue all responded to the incident. The store will be closed for an undetermined period of time.
