False 911 Call Lands Sneads Man in Jail

On Fevruary 9, 2009 at 4:51 PM, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call from an individual stating that either a body was floating or someone was drowning in the Apalachicola River between Sneads and Chattahoochee.
Units responded from the Jackson COunty Sheriff's Department, Sneads Police Department, Chattahoochee Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, Florida State Hospotal Security and Jackson County Fire Rescue.
While searching the river bank, a white male was located by the name of James Harrison Mason, 47, of 8179 Old Spanish Trail in Sneads, Florida. An extensive search of the river was conducted by Chattahoochee Police Officers who were aboard a boat. In addition, other witnesses in the area confirmed that no one was in distress. During the course of the investigation, Mason admitted to making th 911 call which was confirmed to be false in nature.
Mason was placed under arrest and lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility charged with making false 911 calls.
