Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force

On Friday, March 20, 2009, Investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force conducted a lengthy drug investigation in the southeast part of Jackson County. During the coarse of the investigation, James Wayne Mears and his son Christopher Wayne Mears were both arrested on Arkansas Road near Ocheesee Boat Landing after purchasing a large quantity of Loritab prescription medication, which contains hydrocodone. James Wayne Mears and Christopher Wayne Mears were housed in the Jackson County Correctional Facility both facing charges of trafficking in hydrocodone. James Wayne Mears lists an address of 860 Saint Rose Road, Grand Ridge, Florida. Christopher Wayne Mears lists an address of 5907 Hwy 90, Marianna, Florida. James Wayne Mears will also have additional drug related charges announced later.

After the arrest of James Wayne Mears, investigators with the Jackson County Drug Task Force traveled to his residence at 860 Saint Rose Road, Grand Ridge, Florida, which he shares with Debra Lynn Evans and Patricia Nanette Phillmon. At Mears’ residence, investigators obtained permission to search the residence. Upon the search of the residence, evidence was obtained to charge Debra Lynn Evans with possession of marijuana over 20 grams and Patricia Nanette Phillmon with trafficking in hydrocodone and possession of methamphetamine. Both Phillmon and Evans were placed under arrest and housed in the Jackson County Correctional Facility.

In another drug investigation, a search warrant was served at the residence of Joseph Willard Glisson and Edna Bennett Torres, who both reside at 1266 Glisson Lane, Grand Ridge, Florida. Warrants for the arrest of Joseph Glisson and Edna Torres had previously been obtained during the coarse of the investigation for the sale and delivery of marijuana. Glisson also had an active warrant for trafficking in hydrocodone as part of this investigation. During the search of their residence other contraband was discovered including, 21 small marijuana plants, a large quantity of marijuana seed, bagged marijuana, 2 sets of scales and bags for weighing and packaging drugs, prescription medication, and several firearms. In addition to the active warrants, Joseph Glisson is also being charged with the cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia. Edna Torres in addition to her warrants is also being charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Joseph Glisson and Edna Torres were both housed in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await First Appearance.

The Jackson County Drug Task Force is the combined effort of the Cottondale Police Department, the Graceville Police Department, the Marianna Police Department, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
