CHIPOLA LADY INDIANS ADVANCE TO FINAL FOUR IN NATIONAL TOURNEY

SALINA, KS – The Chipola College Lady Indians defeated the Walters State (TN) “Lady Senators”, 66-53, to clinch a spot in the Final Four of the National Junior College Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Tournament on Thursday, March 19, in the Bicentennial Center in Salina, Kansas. Latoya Williams led Chipola with 25 points. Ashlie Billingslea and Lenita Sanford both added 12 points. Sanford led in rebounds with 9. Williams ranks second in scoring currently in the tournament with an average of 23.5 points per game. Billingslea ranks first in steals with an average of 5 per game.
Chipola still leads the tournament defensively with the least amount of points allowed against the Lady Indians averaging 50 points per game.
Chipola’s overall record stands at 29 – 5. The Lady Indians advance to the semi-final round and will play Jefferson County Community College from Hillsboro, MS at 8 p.m. CST on Friday.
