UNUSED MEDICATION SCAM

The Marianna Police Department would like to make all citizens aware of the following scam, expecially seniors who take medications for legitimate pain management.  We recently received complaints that persons are targeting people that take pain medications.  These people are identifying themselves as being associated with Hospice and a program initiated by President Obama to recycle unused medications to provide them to less fortunate.  These people are praying on human compassion, and have no intent to help those in need.  They are either addicts or are trying to obtain them for street sale.

There is in fact a program that has been initiated to recycle unused medications, but no one will ever be knocking on your door to solicit unused medicaion.  So if someone does come to your door trying to talk you out of your prescription drugs, decline their solicitations and call law enforcement as soon as possible.
