Justice Served In Cottondale Murder Case Defendants found guilty

By Sid Riley

After only two hours of deliberation a Jackson County jury on Tuesday found Willie Lloyd III guilty of robbery with a deadly weapon. Lloyd is one of the four men accused in the robbery and beating death of an elderly, 75 year old Cottondale resident, Alfred Delk last September. Lloyd will be sentenced after the trial of the last of the co-defendants, Toriano Grant, who is allegedly the defendant who actually struck Delk repeatedly with a heavy paving stone.

The other two defendants, Kendrick Brown, and Joshua Pullum have pleaded no contest to a charge of robbery with a deadly weapon, and were sentenced to 30 years in prison. Pullum testified against Lloyd on Tuesday in prospect of earning a sentence reduction from Judge Wright.

Grant has been charged with second degree murder, and is expected to be tried in May.
In this very vicious, cruel crime, the system appears to have worked well…and justice is being served.
