At Tuesday’s meeting of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners, County Manager presented information relating to the impending foreclosure sale of the old Wal Mart building. The State Bank of Texas holds a $1.2 million lien on the facility, and will not reduce that amount in a purchase from the county.
Next, Lakey presented the report generated by Ajax Building Corporation, the company which would build the proposed 14,000 sq. ft., $10,000,000 new building if approved by the Commission. Their analysis of the renovation costs of the 100,000 sq. ft. Wal Mart building yielded a $5.8 million dollar renovation cost. Based on this, Lakey recommended the consideration be dropped by the Commission. No action was taken.
