Free Thursday Concerts Drawing Crowds

Hundreds are enjoying “Thursday Concerts In The Park” summer program.

The second concert of the summer series was conducted last Thursday evening at Citizens Lodge Park with a crowd of around 300 in attendance. It was a beautiful, cool, calm, moonlit evening filled with great music provided by the local group, “Second Time Around”. Sue Ann Tharpe, Richard Hinson, and John Donaldson were the vocalist, while Van Kunde, Floyd Griffith, and Paul Register were supporting musicians. They all did a professional job of entertaining.

The event is also a social affair where neighbors and friends chat and enjoy socializing. Kids are playing on the playground equipment, many folks bring their dog along, people are lounging on lawn chairs and blankets, and the entire affair has a wonderful “home town” feeling to it. Most people bring a small cooler along to provide refreshments. One vendor is currently serving the events with shaved ice.

This week Dry Creek, a great bluegrass group, is the scheduled band. So, plan to get out of your rut. Change your routine and come out to the park next Thursday for a great evening with friends and family.
