County Is Beginning Budget Workshops

The county commission and staff have begun the budget workshop process. During this part of the budget preparation process, each department head presents a proposed budget for the coming year, detailing projections for all capital outlays and operating costs.

The Commissioners then discuss their proposed budget with the Department Head, and begin to form the framework for the new 2010-2011 budget. The total needed funds are then compared to the projected revenues for the same period, and from this the decision as to whether or not to raise the millage rate is made.

It is anticipated that property tax revenues for the County will decrease this year, due to reduced property valuations. These meetings are open to the public.

Meeting Schedule: Start time 9:00 AM July 20, 21, 22 and 27. At 5:00 PM on July 27, the Commission will address the new budget for the Compass Lake in the Hills MSTU.
