Chief Financial Officer For School Board Is Leaving

Terry St. Cyr has served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Jackson County School System for the past 6 ½ years. Through his counsel and advice the investments of the reserve funds have remained safe and untarnished by the market turmoil which occurred during the past few years. He has always kept the School Board Members well informed on the management aspects of the school system’s finances, and has kept Jackson County Schools appraised and active participants in all federal and state funding opportunities.

At Thursday’s workshop meeting, School Superintendent Lee Miller, and the members of the School Board all expressed their appreciation for the work he has performed and their sincere regret for his decision to take another position. Terry will become the Assistant Superintendent and will oversee Finance for the Escambia County Schools.

Terry expressed his remorse in having to leave Jackson County, but the Escambia position was a big step forward and he could not refuse the opportunity. Additionally, he and his family previously lived in the Pensacola area, so this is almost like “returning home” to them.

Mr. St. Cyr will be leaving within the next few weeks. Lee Miller and the Board has appointed Kathy Sneads to serve as Interim Director of Finance. We all wish Terry and his family success and good fortune.

  1. Terry, good luck in your new job. I hope that the Jackson County School Board does a true search for the new director and does not just "hire from within" as seems to be their practice. Does anyone know the last person (at this management level) who was hired from outside of the county??
