“Our country is in bad shape”, Jackson County school board member Kenny Griffin told a gathering of residents, officials and businesspersons in Alford Thursday, “and things won’t get better until its citizens learn to give back more than they receive.” More than 80 people, the largest crowd yet, attended the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce’s last “Power Lunch” for 2010 at the plush surroundings of La Maison de Lucy, the new bed and breakfast operated by Frenchman Michael Setboun in the old schoolhouse in Alford.
