City Insurance Premium Refunds Totaling Over $23,000
An insurance representative had a “christmas gift” for the city at the Tuesday evening regular meeting of the Marianna City Commission. The representative of the Florida League of Cities Municipal Insurance Trust which provides Property and Casualty Insurance for the City and Marianna Health and Rehab presented two insurance premium return checks to the city. Approximately three years ago Marianna switched to this non profit association which provides municipal insurance protection.
When premium periods pass in which no major claims are experienced, the policy holders receive premium returns. The city received a check for $15,929 and Marianna Health and Rehabilitation received a refund check for $7346. This was for the premium year of 2008-2009 in which Florida experienced no hurricane claims.
