SunTrust To Downsize In Marianna

The national economic situation and continuing recession which includes a tremendous decline in growth within the housing and construction industries has also created a nationwide decline in bank loan activities. As a result of increased regulation combined with falling revenues, most banks have been forced to take actions to reduce costs.
Last week SunTrust in the Marianna area announced its intent to discontinue operations at their Crossroads Branch on Highway 90 East of Marianna. Operations at this facility will cease on Friday, April 8 at 2:00 PM.
Trey Pleas, Manager of the downtown SunTrust Branch emphasizes the fact that SunTrust will still be the only area bank with more than one branch open and providing a full range of banking services. “We will still have our downtown branch which offers a wide range of services, our Wal Mart Branch will continue operations, and our Jefferson Street Branch will continue to provide drive-thru and walk up ATM services. SunTrust will continue to be a major element of the banking community in the Marianna area. ”
