BOYD ANNOUNCES $3 MILLION STIMULUS LOAN FOR MARIANNA DRINKING WATER INFRASTRUCTURE

U.S. Congressman Allen Boyd (D-North Florida) announced today that the City of Marianna is scheduled to receive a low interest loan in the amount of $3,000,000 to help finance infrastructure improvements to its drinking water system. This federal funding is part of a total investment of $88,074,000 that was recently made available to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“With these stimulus dollars, Marianna will be able to upgrade its critical water infrastructure and address an important public health need,” said Congressman Boyd. “Improving the accessibility and quality of our drinking water is something that is very important to me, and I am pleased that these federal stimulus dollars will benefit so many people in the Jackson County community.”
This funding is in addition to an investment of $132.3 million for Florida wastewater infrastructure projects that the Environmental Protection Agency announced last month. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which was recently signed into law with Congressman Boyd’s support, includes $2 billion to fund drinking water infrastructure projects nationwide.
